A Lavender and Lemon Baby Shower

I recently was honored with privilege of hosting my sisters baby shower. I have never fully planned a party this size by myself before. I wanted it to be very nice for her, I knew she was nervous that no one was going to show up because it was her fourth child. She agreed to do a sip n' see party, thats where you sip cocktails and see the new baby. I thought it would be a nice way for family to come and see him and have a nice time.

The theme I went with was Lavender and Lemon. My sister loves Lavender and I just thought the colors were so sweet together.

All of the decor, I got from target and the dollar store. I hung a baby shower sign with burlap bows from target at the front door, so family and friends knew they had the right house. I set up lemons, confetti, and lemon and lavender candles on the kitchen island and guest book table as well as a few outdoor tables that we had set up around the pool. I bought a lavender plant to wrap in burlap for the guest book table. We also made a birth announcement sign, Click here for the DIY to make one too.

I love guestbooks but I feel they get lost in closets after parties. So, I decided to buy a classic children's book for guests to write a little note to Rowan. That way it serves more than just a sentimental purpose.  I chose 'Blueberries for Sal' because the colors went well with my theme.

As far as the menu goes, I really wanted to do a lavender and lemon themed menu but I was making most of the food myself and I just didn't have the time to experiment with recipes. So, I went with cheap and easy mostly pinterest recipes. We had more than enough food, enough to invite all the husbands and kids over to eat for an after party!

The Menu
  • brandy red wine sangria
  • sweet tea
  • assorted cans of drinks and bottled water
Main Course

It ended up being a beautiful party and I'm thankful I got to show my sister how much she is loved! I wish I had gotten more pictures of the outside set-up. It was the perfect day for an outdoor party.
